What had become of the two of them, he asked in silent mourning. Had they continued their lives, starting over again? Or did they stay up at night shedding tears for a man whom they would never again see?
Page 8:
The thought caused his resolve to fail, and his cracked voice echoed in the empty chamber. Tearless sobs penetrated stale air. Sobs not for him, or for his fate, but for theirs. His mind creating thoughts that had played out so many times they had taken on the depth of actual memories; his beloved explaining to his little princess why daddy wasn’t coming home. And his heart broke anew each time.
