The start of a big project

This is actually number 10 in my 52 week project, but this is also a very new photo. I took this last Saturday (April 16th) during a semi-abandoned building photo shoot. In town there is a building that was owned by an automotive parts dealer but has been empty for the past bunch of months. A friend of mine just bought it and let me go through to photograph it before they did their renovations. Much of the building hasn’t actually been used in years. It is really quite large, something like 38,000 square feet, so I was unable to finish that day. I actually have the best parts left to do. Most of what I shot was what was most recently used (thus easiest to renovate for my friend) so I did that part first. Problem was that a lot of that area was just open spaces without much of great interest. I did manage to find some things though.
What I have for you today is a detail shot of the elevator door. This is the wooden gate that would be pulled down prior to moving the elevator car. Let me know what you think in the comments below. And if you haven’t already, you should subscribe so you don’t miss the rest of the photos from this shoot when I post them in the future.
As always, you can order fine art prints here.
