Featured Artist – Patrick Loehr

Chris Lane / Art, Featured Artist, illustration, Painting / / 3 Comments

This month’s Featured Artist is Patrick Loehr. I came upon his work in an accidental way by picking up his first children’s book, Mucumber McGee and the Half-Eaten Hot Dog in a bargain bin.

I liked the artwork from the start and read maybe a page or two at the store and decided it was definitely worth a purchase. I got it home and read it to my son. For any of those that have a two year old, you can understand that it isn’t easy to keep one still long enough to finish a book, even one so short, but he was attentive the entire time. Prisoner graphic short story cover teaser

Chris Lane / illustration, New Stuff!, Updates / / 10 Comments

Just a quick note to say that I do still exist. I have been crazy busy trying to finish up a big project, in the form of a graphic novel. Or comic book. or graphic short story? Regardless of what it is called, it is an illustrated version of a short story written by Dean Mehrkens. Here is a little teaser for it, as it is coming very very soon. It will be fully hosted here on the blog and on Dean’s site and will be available all together in a number of formats when it has ran its course here.

Also, I am still working on a how-to video for the textures in the previous blog post, so that is something else to look forward to.

And without further ado, the cover for the Prisoner graphic short story, coming very soon:

The brief for the cover was simple, make it look ancient with just text. It had to include the name, subtitle, the initials CD in the center and his name below. He had given me a couple images of inspiration
