
I recently had the fortune of working with a local small businesswoman and friend, Lori Lindholm to design a logo for her Newfolden, Minnesota based business. Lori primarily creates tutus for young girls. Having five girls herself, she is the perfect person to run a business such as this and I wanted to give her a great logo to match. Her business is called 5pinkfairies.
After she approached me, I gave her an initial survey of questions to help me in the process of the design. I had subsequent questions as well and then got to the mind mapping. I listed all the things related to the name and the product (which also included custom scarves) and the type of logo she wanted. Her main key words were vintage, universal, pink, girly. A few months back I held a contest to win a custom name illustration to one lucky subscriber and showed an example of such. Tanner L was the winner and a while ago I finished his illustration, and thought I should share it here also. It works as a great example that the illustration can have any kind of names, not just family. Tanner chose four directors, Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick, and Martin Scorcese, whose work has influenced him and his own work. I am rather happy with the result and Tanner was very much so as well. He left the color choice to me and I thought it was fitting to put this one as various shades of red on a black background as it fit with Tanner’s personality as well as the darker nature of the work of the directors.
