Senior Photo Shoot – Brittany B – Class of 2012

Chris Lane / photography / / 1 Comment

I recently had a great senior photo shoot with the Thief River Falls future graduate, Brittany. If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you may have already seen a few of the photos, but I thought I would share more from the set.
These were all taken within Thief River Falls, Minnesota around various locations in town.
This first photo was taken by the old Wilson Bros. building, now occupied by Healthy U. You may remember that I also took this and this photo inside that building.

A sneak peek at a recent senior photo shoot

Chris Lane / photography / / 0 Comments

For my Friday photo this week I am giving a glimpse into a recent photo shoot of a senior for 2012 graduating class. So this will be #16 in my 52 week project. I think.

This is shot at ISO400, 1/400 shutter with f/1.8 aperture. On my ever present favorite lens, the 50mm with a manual flash on top of my camera. The metadata doesn’t save my flash settings because it is manual, so I don’t have that info.

The start of a big project

This is actually number 10 in my 52 week project, but this is also a very new photo. I took this last Saturday (April 16th) during a semi-abandoned building photo shoot. In town there is a building that was owned by an automotive parts dealer but has been empty for the past bunch of months. A friend of mine just bought it and let me go through to photograph it before they did their renovations. Much of the building hasn’t actually been used in years. It is really quite large, something like 38,000 square feet, so I was unable to finish that day. I actually have the best parts left to do. Most of what I shot was what was most recently used (thus easiest to renovate for my friend) so I did that part first. Problem was that a lot of that area was just open spaces without much of great interest. I did manage to find some things though.
What I have for you today is a detail shot of the elevator door. This is the wooden gate that would be pulled down prior to moving the elevator car. Let me know what you think in the comments below. And if you haven’t already, you should subscribe so you don’t miss the rest of the photos from this shoot when I post them in the future.
As always, you can order fine art prints here.

Senior photo shoot – Jonathan

Chris Lane / photography / / 5 Comments

I was recently hired to do a senior photo shoot for my young brother-in-law. This is actually my first photo shoot for a senior, but I am quite happy with the results. Jonathan was a lot of fun to work with. He at first had expectations of having to act like a model, which was not fun in his eyes, but once we actually started the shoot he had a lot of fun also.

Jonathan is in Civil Air Patrol so we started with some of him in his uniform. He is quite patriotic so I wanted to get a shot of him in front of the flag.
